Ingredients

  • 2 cups tequila
  • 1 ripe mango peeled and sliced
  • 1 jalapeño sliced (seeds removed for less heat, optional)

Instructions

  • Prepare the Ingredients: Peel the mango and slice the flesh away from the pit. Cut it into thin slices or chunks. Slice the jalapeño, removing the seeds if you prefer less heat.
  • Combine Ingredients: Place the mango slices and jalapeño slices into a clean, sterilized glass jar. Pour the tequila over the ingredients, ensuring everything is fully submerged.
  • Seal and Steep: Seal the jar tightly and store it in a cool, dark place. Shake gently once a day to ensure the flavors infuse evenly.
  • Monitor and Strain: Taste the infusion daily, starting on day 3, to check the spice level. If the jalapeño flavor becomes too strong, remove the slices and let the mango continue steeping. Once the desired flavor is achieved (3–5 days), strain the tequila through a fine mesh sieve or cheesecloth into a clean bottle.
  • Store: Seal the bottle tightly and store it in a cool, dark spot. The infused tequila will keep fresh for up to 2–3 months.
