How to cook oatmeal in the microwave
You don’t need to buy those packages of instant oatmeal! Buy your own oatmeal in bulk and you can make your own instant oatmeal. You can even package them individually in snack size ziplocs and include things like brown sugar, dried cut-up peaches or raisins in them, so you don’t have to measure out the oatmeal every time.
First, figure out your serving size. You might want to do 1 cup or 1/2 cup for smaller kids. Then add double the amount of water. So for 1 cup dry quick oats oatmeal, add 2 cups water. Mix in microwave-safe dish and microwave on high for 1-2 minutes, depending on serving size and microwave. The oatmeal will be visibly thickened when done, so you can adjust time as needed. Remove bowl from microwave, stir and serve!
