How often have you taken advantage of the fresh flowers in your garden to decorate your house up a bit, only to have them wilt and looking too much worse for wear in only a few hours. Here is how to keep your flowers looking their best for your vase in the house.
Be sure to cut flowers in the morning. In the early morning they have the most moisture, meaning they are less likely to wilt quickly.
Chose buds rather than blooms, that way not only to they last longer, but you can enjoy watching the buds bloom.
Cut stems on an angle using sharp pruning shears. Then inside, cut them again while immersed in water.
Place stems in slightly warm water, not cold water, removing any leaves off the stem that end up below water. They will make the water mucky and smell faster.
Change water daily, and recut stems on an angle.
By using these tips, your floral bouquets you cut from the garden will last much longer and continue looking fantastic for days.
