You may come across some recipes that call for sherry in the ingredients. Sherry is one of the lesser expensive liquor based ingredients that are used, but you still may not want to buy a whole bottle of it for the few times you actually need it, especially since it is not often found in recipes, or it is listed with a substitute already suited for the particular recipe. And it has mostly fallen out of favor as an alcohol drink to actually drink nowadays.
Fortunately, sherry has a few different substitutes, that are easily found in your pantry.
The first is to substitute apple cider for the sherry
Dry vermouth is also really good substitute.
Lastly, you can simply substitute white wine. Of all the substitution options, this particular one won’t have the same depth of flavors as sherry or vermouth though.
