I love hard-boiled eggs and I often have multiple cartons of eggs in the fridge at a time. Hard boiled eggs are great on their own as a snack or you can use them to whip up a quick egg salad sandwich for an easy lunch or a fussy child.
However, more than once, sometime will grab an uncooked egg expecting a hard boiled one, or go to crack an egg into a fry pan or a bowl with baking in it, only to discover the cracked egg was actually a hard boiled one. And since many store their hard boiled eggs back in the carton, it is easy to see how this mix up could happen.
Here is a fantastic kitchen hack you ensure you never get fooled by eggs again. Next time you cook hard boiled eggs, simply put a few drops of food coloring into the boiling water. This will tint the egg shells, making it easy to see which eggs are hard boiled.
An added bonus with this hack is that kids find it fun and reminded of Easter eggs when you give them a hard boiled egg you have tinted blue, yellow or whatever color of food coloring you have on hand. And remember you can mix colors to make purple, or other fun colors your kids will love.
