We have all had it happen, where we forget to empty out the thermos at the end of the day, and when Monday morning comes around, you discover a moldy mess waiting for you in a lunch box. And while a good scrub and a run through the dishwasher will usually clean it, you’re often left with kind of an odor in a thermos, and It’s just not appetizing.
Personally, there is a way that you can remove odours from your thermos, even when you have left it moldy for a few days. The downsize is your thermos will be out of commission for a couple of days, but it should be good as new afterwards.
All you need to do to deodorize your thermos is simply pour half a cup of salt into your thermos, and then you want to put your thermos aside for a day or two and let the salt do its work. After a day or two has passed, rinse it with hot water, and then give it another wash with hot water and soap.
Following these steps, your thermos should be good to go and smelling clean once more.
