Crafting Your Pork Satay Masterpiece
Preparing the Marinade
- Mixing Magic: In a large bowl, whisk together the peanut butter, coriander, finely diced onion, salt, brown sugar, lemon juice, soy sauce, Tabasco sauce, and ginger until well combined. This marinade is where your pork will soak up all the incredible flavors.
Marinating & Freezing
- Marinate: Place the pork cubes in the marinade, ensuring each piece is well-coated. Cover and let it marinate overnight in the refrigerator to infuse fully.
- Freezing for Later: Transfer the marinated pork cubes into a freezer-safe container or Ziploc bag. Label with the date, and freeze.
Grill Time: From Freezer to Feast
- Defrost: When you’re ready for a satay feast, defrost the pork satay in the refrigerator.
- Prep Your Skewers: Thread the marinated pork cubes onto skewers, alternating with pieces of onion or your choice of vegetables for added flavor and color.
- Grill to Perfection: Preheat your grill on high. Place the skewers on the grill, cooking for 5 minutes before flipping. Baste with the remaining marinade, then grill for another 5 minutes on high. Reduce the heat and continue cooking until the pork is thoroughly cooked through. Remember, for food safety, do not reuse the marinade on cooked meat.
Tips for a Sizzling Success
- Variety is the Spice of Life: Feel free to add bell peppers, zucchini, or any other grill-friendly veggies to your skewers.
- Make it a Meal: Serve your Pork Satay with a side of fluffy rice or a fresh salad for a complete, balanced meal.
