Planning
Budget Ski Holidays
Once you add up
accomodations, ski rentals, ski equipment and travelling to
the ski hill, skiing holidays can be an expensive holiday.
Here are some tips to help keep the costs down,
Look for deals
Check out the websites for nearby ski hills. They often have
unadvertised specials you may be able to take advantage of
for both ski passes as well as accomodations. Also contact
the chamber of commerce where the ski hill is located, as
they often offer discounts for local attractions and hotels.
Bring your own
food
It can be expensive to feed your family, so if possible, choose
a place with kitchen facilities to use. It may cost an extra
$10, but you can save hundreds of dollars by not eating out.
Bring your own food if possible, and if you need to shop for
food, try and find the grocery store that locals use, rather
than the nearby convenience store which will be much more
expensive.
Bring your own
entertainment
Bring board games, game boys, books and toys, otherwise your
kids will ask for money for the arcade or any other activities
that usually aren't free.
Borrow equipment
if possible
Ask to borrow ski suits. Rent equipment rather than buying.
Unless you plan on skiiing multiple trips per year, it is
more cost expensive to borrow and rent than to buy.
