One unfortunate
thing about crock pots is that fat isn't drained away as it
is cooked. If you are trying to cut fat from your diet for
your weight loss program, there are ways you can trim those
pesky fat calories first. And fortunately, most can be done
quite easily or with minimum added prep time to add to your
busy day. So here are ways you can turn your favorite crock
pot recipes into low fat versions!
Are you using ground
beef? Either use extra lean ground beef or pre-brown it so
that you can drain fat away.
Carefully trim
meats to cut away excess fat. This is easy to do with many
cuts.
Change ingredients
to low-fat versions. Most recipes won't be affected too much
by switching out an ingredient for the low-fat version of
the same ingredient.
Ramp up the veggies
and cut down the meat. This is an easy way to cut your calories,
not to mention making the dish healthier for everyone.
