Another great low fat pasta sauce, a simple yet delicious tomato based sauce in your slow cooker.
Low Fat Marinara Sauce
- slow cooker
- 2 28- oz cans low sodium whole tomatoes
- 1 onion chopped
- 2 carrots diced
- 1 clove garlic minced
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- 1 tbsp brown sugar
- 1/2 tsp salt
- Using a blender or food processor, blend tomatoes until pureed. In a skillet, sauté carrot, onions and garlic until softened.
- Add all ingredients into slow cooker, cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours.
- Stir and serve over pasta noodles. If you prefer thicker marinara, remove lid and cook on high for up to one hour.
