Do you need to take the time to sterilize baby bottles in today’s day and age? The answer is yes and no.
When you buy brand new baby bottles, nipples, sippy cups, pacifiers, etc, you should always sterilize them first before using for the first time. After the first use, washing by hand with hot water and soap or running them through the dishwasher is fine. If your dishwasher has a sterilized setting, you might prefer to run the sterilize setting each time you wash any bottles and accessories.
If you are on well water, you should sterilize your bottles prior to each use, unless you are certain the water is safe AND is checked for safety regularly.
