4 oz. melt and pour base
1 tablespoon herbal shampoo
400 IU vitamin E
1/4 teaspoon liquid glycerin
essential oils of tea tree, peppermint or lavender
Notes: Vitamin E is for the dog’s coat. Tea tree oil has antiseptic qualities. Peppermint helps with fleas, as does lavendar
In an old saucepan over low heat melt the base, then add the rest of the ingredients, stirring well. Pour into molds and allow to cool until hardened, then remove. Experiment with shapes.
To use: Take one wet dog and run the bar of soap around the dog’s coat. You don’t want to waste lots of regular liquid shampoo, as virtually all the soap will end up on the dog when using this bar soap. Keep rubbing until you get the desired amount of lather, then rinse well. As with all soap and shampoo for dogs, avoid the eye area.
For gifts: make the soap using dog bone molds ~ this way, not only does it look attractive, but there will be no misunderstanding of which family member the soap is intended for.
