Did you realize that cleaning your oven – especially using the self cleaning oven cycle, – can be toxic to pets in your house? The extremely high temperatures used, especially when combined with oven cleaner chemicals, can create toxic fumes that can be deadly to nearby pets.
If you have any pets living in or near the kitchen, move them first. If you have any caged pets, including birds, move their cages away from the kitchen. Small dogs and cats should either be put outside or in a room away from the kitchen as well.
After running your oven cleaning cycle, let your kitchen air out by opening doors or windows and running the exhaust fan. Your kitchen will then be pet-friendly again!
