If you have put off holding a party because your house or living room is too small, start planning! You can easily maximize your space – even a seemingly small apartment space – to host your party at home.
First, push your sofas right against the wall. If you had a trendy high table behind it, place the table in a hallway or other space to be used by people to place their drinks on.
Move your coffee table to one side so that there is maximum moving space in your living room, and room for people to stand and chat together, something that is harder to do with a coffee table (or two) smach dab in the middle of the living room.
Have two food tables – one in the living room and one in the kitchen, or one at either end of the living room. This will help prevent the situation where everyone is trying to crowd into the same space to get their appys.
Cluster groups of 2-3 chairs in different areas, allowing people to spread out and chat, rather than everyone vying for a space on the one sofa. This allows people to be social, yet not crowded. If you don’t have enough chairs, ask friends if they can loan you one or two chairs – even simple kitchen chairs – so you can pull it off.
No dining room table? Transform your coffee table into a table and place low cushions around it that people can sit on around the table.
