What makes a good martini a great one is often just as simple as how chilled the martini is when serving. And chilling martini glasses can make a martini much colder that if the glass was not chilled first.
But if you are having a party, the freezer is probably full of important things such as ice. So fortunately, there are ways to cheat in order to get chilled martini glasses without having to take up precious freezer space and worrying about how many martinis your guests will drink.
First, give the glass a quick rinse. Any lingering dust will end up floating to the surface of your freshly-made martini.
If you have ten or more minutes before serving, pop it into the freezer without drying the glass after rinsing. This will help it chill faster.
If you don’t have that much time, fill the glass with crushed ice and a small amount of water, and allow it to chill the glass while you make the martini. Even 3-4 minutes with ice water in the glass will help. Dump the ice water out – even into the next martini glass – and pour the martini in. Garnish with an olive and serve!
