Stocking
your home bar with barware
If you plan on
hosting a lot of parties in your home, it makes sense to stock
your home bar with the right barware tools and accessories
to make the bartender's job easier, especially if it is you
playing bartender!
Corkscrew
If you have nothing else for barware, a corkscrew is a must!
Bottle Opener
Whether a bottle of beer or a can of juice, you need a bottle
opener. Some corkscrews also have bottle openers on them,
if you are trying to keep your barware equipment to a minimum.
Shaker
What is a party without a few martinis? While you can improvise,
you should definitely have a shaker, and ideally, one with
a strainer to, for no-mess martinis.
Small chopping
board with sharp knife
For cutting up limes, lemons and other drink
garnishes, you need one of these. The smaller the better
to save space.
Shot glass and/or
jigger
For measuring out 1 oz or 1 1/2 oz of alcohol shots (or liquids
such as juice etc for mixed drinks).
Pitchers
For holding mixers such as juice or soda or pre-mixed drinks
such as martinis that just need shaking.
Ice scoop or
tongs
Ice scoops are much easier to use than tongs. And no one
wants to see the bartender using fingers to scoop ice into
a drink.
Cocktail napkins
Napkins to serve with drinks. They should be cocktail-sized
not dinner size. You will need 3-4 per guests for drinks only.
You will need to triple that if you are serving appys too.
Glassware
Assorted glassware depending on the types of drinks you will
be serving.
