Using Music to Calm your Nerves
Music has been proven to have strong therapeutic and relaxation properties – just by listening. And while classical music is the most common, any instrumental, or even nature sound recordings have a calming effect.
Studies have shown that listening to music can reduce heart rates as well as lower blood pressure – something key in reducing your stress levels and calming your nerves, particularly when you have just had “one of those days”.
So next time you are feeling stressed, turn off the television and put calming music on instead. And turn the calming music into fun for the kids, by teaching them to move and stretch to the music, or to listen for the birds in the nature sound recording. They can try and guess what kinds of birds they hear, and even look through a bird book, while you are listening and relaxing.
