How to form your own support group
A support group can be an extremely powerful and positive part of anyone’s life. Being able to share passion about something you are interested in goes a long way in your spiritual growth. But what if there is not a support group in your area for your passion? Form your own!
If you know one person who shares the same interest as you, whether it be gardening, holistic health care, divorce survivors or scrapbooking, start a once a month get-together. Chances are, as you mention it to others, you will probably get a “oh, I know someone who would LOVE to join!”
How often should you make the commitment to get together? Try for once per month, but depending on everyone’s schedules, you might enjoy the company and support enough that everyone is willing to commit to a weekly or bi-weekly schedule.
You can be creative about when and how you meet. Perhaps organizing a potluck and rotating households will work for you. Or try meeting and different local coffeehouses if your member numbers are small enough.
