This bread isn’t nearly as heavy as traditional applesauce breads.
2 cups flour
1-1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup raisins
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
In a small bowl, combine flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt, mixing well. In a 1 quart size jar, put flour mixture first, pressing down. Then add the remaining ingredients in layers, first brown sugar, then raisins then top with walnuts. Be sure to pack each layer down or you may run out of room. Put lid on jar and attach instructions.
Apple Butter Bread
1 jar apple butter bread mix
1-1/2 cups apple butter, divided into 2 x 3/4 cups
1/2 cup apple juice
1/4 cup butter/margarine, melted
1 egg, beaten
Preheat oven to 350F. Use a 9×5 baking loaf pan and grease the pan then lightly dust with flour. In a large bowl, beat the egg thenadd 3/4 cup apple butter, apple juice, melted butter or margarine. Then add contents of jar, mixing well.
Pour half of the apple butter bread mixture into the baking pan. Then add the remaining 3/4 cup apple butter. Then top with remaining batter. Bake for 65-75 minutes or until the top of the apple butter bread bounces back slightly when touched in the middle. Remove from oven and cool for 15 minutes. Remove bread from pan and allow to cool on wire rack. Serve or store in the refrigerator in an airtight container or plastic wrap.
