How to get white laundry clean without using hot water

With everyone trying to save money, using hot water for loads of laundry doesn't make much sense. But with a little time - and hardly any more effort - you can wash your whites without using hot water!

Washing your whites in cold water is easy. You will want to soak your laundry overnight first. So in the evening, throw your white laundry in and allow it to soak overnight in the water with your laundry detergent and a small amount of bleach. Then in the morning, run your load of laundry as usual.

If you are washing cloth diapers though, it is recommended they are soaked first in cold water for 30-60 minutes, then do the regular wash cycle with warm or hot water to get them clean and sanitized enough.
