Nothing is more annoying that buying a brand new park of trendy dark blue jeans and discovering they are already starting to fade after only a few washes. While one trick is to re-dye them, this can also result in any accents (such as white or yellow stitching) being dyed dark blue as well.
There are also commercial laundry detergents on the market for dark or black colored clothing, but they generally cost an extra few dollars above the regular laundry detergents. Fortunately, there is a way you can get the same result at home without having to buy any pricey specialty detergents.
When you buy a new pair of dark blue jeans – or are wanting to prevent an older pair from fading any more than it already has, simply add 1-3 tablespoons of salt into the washing machine when you wash the jeans, adjusting the amount of salt depending on the size of the laundry load.
