Despite the fact they are electric, you can easily wash electric blankets in your washing machine. However, you do need to do a few things to ensure it can be washed without any problems.
First you want to disconnect the plug and control box or boxes from the bottom of the blanket. Just the blanket itself will go in the washing machine. You also should do a quick inspection of the blanket before washing. You want to make sure there are no tears in the blanket or where the wiring is poking through. It is always a good thing to check your blanket periodically, even if you aren’t planning to wash it.

Always allow the blanket to be completely dried before you plug it back in for use.
