If you want to hang clothes to dry – whether to save money or to hang delicate pieces of clothing – it can be a pain to find the space for a portable laundry line or flat drying rack, especially if you don’t have a dedicated laundry room. Here are some ideas to help.
First, make sure as much water is removed from the clothing first. You might want to do an extra spin-dry cycle in the washing machine first or place the items between two towels to remove a bit more water.
Next, think of where you can install an expandable laundry line. The most obvious place is over a bathtub – if you hang it high enough, it shouldn’t even interfere with kid’s bathtime. You can buy them for a few dollars at places like WalMart and Target.
Need to hang something to dry right now? You can also use a shower rod as a laundry line in a pinch too as well as towel racks.
You can also get a foldable flat drying rack, which is basically mesh placed over a wireframe. If you don’t have suitable floor space, place a beach towel on your bed with the flat drying rack on top of it.
Lastly, take advantage of the outdoors during good weather. It is easy to install a clothesline outside where you can dry your clothes in the sunshine, and they will get a fresh clean scent naturally when nature dries your clothes.
