If you discover pen, felt or marker stains before it has gone through the washing machine, spray the stain with hairspray, then carefully blot with a clean towel. Take care not to run, as this can possibly damage the fabric and spread the stain. Repeat as neccessary.

Once the stain is removed, wash as normal to remove the hairspray residue from the garment.
