Sandwich alternatives for school lunches

Your child decides that if he has one more tuna or ham sandwich he is never going to eat another sandwich as long as he lives. So what can you do for school lunches as an alternative to the classic sandwich standby?

  • Switch to a pita. The same fillings stuffed into a pita can turn a boring sandwich into a unique and exciting lunch.
  • Send a piece of pita along with a container of tomato or pizza sauce, along with various veggie pizza toppings. It makes a fun activity for lunch, and it is healthy.
  • Pack a thermos with a favorite soup or stew
  • Make a fun sub sandwich with a sub or a bagguette.
  • Make a sandwich with rasin bread.

If you bake your own bread, add food coloring to the ingredients. Green or purple bread, even when you make it with whole wheat flour, is suddenly interesting and exciting to eat for kids.
