Did you know that some parents that homeschool don’t actually do the teaching themselves, or decide to teach some subjects but not others? This is done by hiring someone else to homeschool their children.
This isn’t a common solution, but it is an option for parents of children who respond best in a homeschool learning environment but who are unable to free up work time to do it themselves.
Sometimes parents look to those inside the family to do homeschooling, such as grandparents, aunts and uncles. Your sister might be homeschooling her own kids and if yours are around the same age might be able to homeschool your kids as well.
Do ensure that if you go with a family member that you aren’t taking advantage of their goodwill. This might mean you pay for the homeschooling or perhaps you purchase all the supplies for both your kids and hers, while she does the actual teaching. Or maybe the other might to math and art while you do social studies and language arts.
There are also other mothers who do this as a home business, meaning you pay her in exchange for homeschooling. Or you could split shift with another parent, such as week on or week off, or even you do Mondays and Tuesdays, she does Thursdays and Fridays and you alternate Wednesdays.
It is important that you check to see that you are within the state homeschool guidelines to do this kind of arrangement, as many states have rules that vary slightly. You don’t want to jeopardize your child’s education because you didn’t check and ensure you were following the rules first!
