If you have had an oil leak, you know how unattractive those stains look on the driveway or in the garage. Fortunately, there are a few treatments you can try, depending on how old the oil stain is.
If the stain is recent, spread kitty litter onto the oil, and grind it in well with your feet. Allow it about half an hour to absorb the oil, then sweep it up. Repeat if necessary. You will need to do this on a dry day, as the kitty litter will also absorb anything liquid, including rain!
If the stain is older or more stubborn, spray it generously with a laundry stain remover, such as Spray & Wash. Soak for ten minutes, then sprinkle powdered laundry detergent on the spot. Using a stiff brush scrub at the spot, then wash.
You can also use TSP (Trisodium phosphate crystals), which is sold in many paint departments, as it is also used to clean walls. Sprinkle, allow to soak for ten minutes, then scrub at the spot with a stuff brush, then wash.
If the above don’t work, treat the stain with an oven cleaner. Spray, allow to soak for ten minutes, then wash.
