If you are choosing closet doors for your bedroom, there are plenty of types to choose from. Wooden, mirrored or stainless-steel look. Sliding or traditional double hinged? Here is how to help you decide.
Personally, I’d go for wooden closet doors that are double hinged, meaning they fold back – the traditional style closet doors you probably had growing up. Why are these the best?
Sliding closet doors, while they look nice, are pretty unpractical. You can only ever see half of your closet at once, making it hard to find pieces or mix and match clothing. Items can also fall and slide into the track, meaning you need to crawl behind the door to dislodge whatever has fallen.
Mirrored closet doors can be handy, but they can also be overkill – it is a whole lot of mirror for a bedroom, unless you happen to be a teenage girl! Using a smaller full-length mirror on the wall is a much better way. Then you can match the wooden doors with the other doors in your house.
Stainless steel doors are seen most often in high-end houses, but they can be a real pain to keep clean from fingerprint marks. If you have a stainless steel refrigerator or dishwasher, you know how difficult they can be to keep clean, especially with kids in the house.
Make sure you adjust the bottom of the closet doors so they fit securly in the track without hitting the carpet, which can make it hard to open and close. There are pins on the bottom that can be adjusted to make the closet door sit higher from the ground.
