Changing
the look of your living room based on the seasons
If you don't have
a huge budget to make your living room reflect the seasons,
here are some easy ways you can change the decor by spending
as little money as possible. And the changes are fairly easy,
meaning your living room can look seasonal regardless of whether
it is a blizzard outside or 95 degrees.
Pillows
Use sofa accent pillows with replaceable covers. In the fall
and winter you will want to use darker fabrics, while in the
spring and summer, you should use lighter and spring-like
colors.
Candles
Use dark burgundy, blue and green ones in the colder months,
but switch to white, ecru, or lighter colors of pink, yellow
and blue. Don't forget to also change the candle holders or
candle accent beads to reflect the season as well. Then store
the ones you aren't using until next season.
Paintings
Dark oil paintings are best for winter months, but change
to a lighter feeling watercolor painting for the summer.
Accent rugs
Using a dark oriental or tapestry rug? Swap it out for a lighter
colored one for the summer months, or even a nice bamboo one
to bring the feeling of the beach to your living room.
Frames
Swap out your dark wooden picture frames for bright white
ones.
These are all simple
things you can do to change the look of your living room to
reflect what the weather is doing outside. And it will also
help keep you from getting bored of seeing the same decor
in your living room year in and year out.
