Sometimes all it takes is freshening up your kitchen cabinets with a new coat of paint to give the entire kitchen a redecorated look. Don't be afraid to play up a different color, you don't need to stick with white or darker wood-color.

If you choose to go with a bolder color, be sure it can be coordinated with the room, whether it coordinates with a colored stripe in the floor or is in the same color theme as the kitchen counter top. And don't forget it is easier to start lighter and go darker than it is to go lighter from darker.

If it is within your budget, don't forget to spruce up the cabinets and drawers with new handles, or see if the old ones can be repainted as well.

If you are renting, be sure you check with the landlord before repainting. You don't want to paint them only to discover your fabulous blue cabinets must be repainted white before you move out.
