If you have a rental, it is usually the kitchen that is the hardest to personalize and make it look like “yours”. Here are some tips to give it your own look while keeping your landlord happy.
Change the knobs and handles
If they are screw on knobs and handles, simply unscrew and add your own carefully chosen ones. Be sure the handles are the right size, as they come in different widths. When it is time to move out, simply remove yours and put the original knobs and handles back.
Use a bold accent color
Forget the neutrals and go for a bright red, yellow or blue instead. Then add touches in that bright color, such as dish cloths, placemats, utensil holders, hot pads, even your garbage can. These bright colors will draw the eye and give your kitchen a polished look.
Add framed artwork to your fridge
If you are stuck with the no holes rule, frame a piece of artwork, add heavy duty magnets to the back, and put on your fridge for instant decor without using picture hooks.
These are several ideas for adding charm to your kitchen. Have more ideas? Post in our forums!
