Yarn snowflakes are a super easy craft to make, especially for younger kids who want to make some easy Christmas ornaments. And it is a great use for leftover yarn. If you need to buy yarn, you can buy economy yarn at Walmart and at craft stores – or if you are lucky, you might find some at the thrift store or garage sale.
White or silver yarn
Glue
Silver glitter
Plastic lid
Wax paper
Small bowl
Paint brush
Pour a small amount of glue into bowl, use a paint brush to brush the yarn with glue. Once the yarn is saturated with glue, shape them into snowflake shapes on wax paper. Allow to dry.
The snowflakes should now be stiff in the snowflake shapes. Gently pull them off the ax paper. Place on plastic lid, gently brush both sides with glue once more and sprinkle with glitter, making sure the unused glitter falls onto the lid. Place back on wax paper to dry, and repeat with all snowflakes until done. Be sure to use the glitter that falls on the plastic lid on the next snowflake. Thread with ornament hanger or ribbon and hang for Christmas decorations.
