Making yourself into Jack Sparrow can take some effort, but you will find that you will look much more like the real Jack Sparrow, especially if you can master the swagger, than by using one of the cheap store-bought costumes. And you can buy most of the items at a thrift store.
- Dress shirt, a few sizes too big, leaving the top few buttons undone. Bonus points for puffy.flowing sleeves.
- Gray/Blue/Black vest and pants
- Leather boots (or boot covers)
- Large leather belt with large square buckle (you can make your own buckle with cardboard and silver spray paint or tin foil if you can’t find one)
- Leather gloves (you will need to cut off the fingers!)
- Large piece of red & white or black fabric (tie tie around head)
- Red & white fabric to tie around waist
- Pirate hat
- Dreadlock hallowe’en wig (can often only find these attached to a rasta style hat in the Halloween section)
- Beads
- Fake beard, mustache (need elastics and beads to re-create the beard look)
- Black eyeliner
- Gold tooth
- Earring
- Cutlass
Using a photo is going to be your best guide when assembling the entire costume. Be sure to smudge the eyeliner when you put it on.
Don’t worry if you can’t find the exact beads that he uses. No one will be paying attention to that small detail, as long as you have the beads, and aren’t using hot pink beads, you should be good!
Attach the dreadlocks to the pirate hat or bandana. You can purchase a pre-made Jack Sparrow hat if you prefer, but it won’t look as good as making your own.
