Don’t you hate when you crack open your hard boiled egg to discover the yolk is discolored and looks an unappetizing grey or green color? Here is how to keep those yolks looking bright yellow – which is especially crucial when you are trying to convince your kids to eat them afterwards!
Using a pin or thumb tack, prick a hole in the large end of each egg (this prevents the egg from cracking during cooking. Place in saucepan and cover with cold water. Bring to a boil, then immediately remove from heat. Cover and let sit for 15 minutes, then drain and immerse in cold water to cool. Now ready for decorating or eating!
Then, when you crack them open, those egg yolks will be true yellow and not miscolored.
