Why you should not use vinyl shower curtains

Did you know that a brand new vinyl shower curtain can actually raise the level of chemicals in your house for a month after you hang it? Think of that smell that new shower curtains, or anything vinyl, have. Well, that smell is actually a chemical called DEHP, and it is a suspected carcinogen that has now been linked to hormonal disruptive issues in humans.

So, if you are ready to remove your vinyl shower curtains, what should you put in its place?

Non-PVC shower curtains
There are non-PVC shower curtains already available on the market, and they should become more commonplace as time goes on. All non-PVC shower curtains clearly state it on the packaging.

Fabric
Yes, there is such a thing as fabric shower curtains. You can find cotton, even organic cotton, along with bamboo... and bamboo has the added bonus of being a natural antimicrobial fabric!

Glass
Ditch shower curtains all together and install a glass shower door instead.

Don't forget, if your shower curtain is looking a bit grungy, you can easily wash it to make it like new again.
