Why you should always tell your doctor about health supplements you take

when you go to a physician and you need to fill the form that asks what medications you are taking, did you know the you really should also list any health supplements you take? This includes things such as ginseng and Echinacea, even though many people consider those very safe in common.

So why do you need to tell them? Did you realize that some health supplements actually have negative interactions with some prescription drugs you are taking? This even includes birth control pills. And if you are on antibiotics for a serious health condition, the side effects can be even worse.

It is also always good to double check with your pharmacist when you are filling your prescriptions. They can also double check to make sure that there won't be any negative interactions between the your supplements and your medications. It is always better to be safe than sorry, and you don't want to find out that a supplement you are taking has very negative effects on your prescription drugs.
