Beware
of Dollar Store Toothpaste
You can often find
brand name toothpaste for only $1 at the dollar store, while
buying it at the grocery or drug store will run you $2 to
$3 a tube minimum. However, have you really looked closely
at that dollar store toothpaste you bought?
If you did, you
might discover some alarming things about the toothpaste.
It was discovered that dollar stores were selling expired
toothpaste, and sometimes several years past its expiry date!
But wait, it gets worse!
The dollar store
toothpaste might also be unsafe. They not only sell toothpaste
made and approved for sale in the US, but they also sell toothpaste
that was made and marketing to other countries of the world
that has much different standards than they do in the US or
Canada. In one undercover test, one brand of toothpaste sold
in the dollar store was found to have ten times the amount
of fluoride allowed by the US.
If you decide to
buy toothpaste from the dollar store - or any health or body
related product, for that matter - always check both the expiry
date and information about the market the product is sold
for. If in doubt, don't buy it and watch for sales at your
regular grocery or drug store instead, and stock up when they
are selling it at dollar store prices.
