Did you realize that not everything that is listed in the grocery store flyer is on sale? So don’t just assume that because chicken breasts are listed in the flyer that means they must be a good price.
While the front page is often filled completely with a lot of loss leaders, oftentimes the items on the inside are actually not on sale in all but written in such a way that you would believe they were. So always be careful that you don’t just buy items because you see them in the flyer. Always check your prices.
Even more startling is the fact that sometimes companies pay the grocery stores to get their items into that flyer, particularly if they are new or if they are trying to steal some business away from the similar product to competitor’s offering.
Grocery stores use fliers as a way to boost sales, get you to spend more money in their store while providing the illusion of affordability.
