If you do not want to use traditional insecticidal soap sprays on your plants, there are non-insecticidal options you can use, and best of all, they will cost you next to nothing to make at home.
First, you need mild dish soap, the same kind you would use to wash the dishes in your sink (not the dishwasher!) If you are doing organic gardening, there are all natural dish soaps that you can buy from the grocery or health food stores that do not have any of the chemicals that regular dish soaps have.
In a clean, empty spray bottle, fill it with water, then add a few squirts of dish soap to the bottle. Give it a shake to combine the water with the soap.
To use, spray on your plants. Ideally, you should use it as soon as you see a problem with bugs, do not “wait it out” to see if the problem will ease itself. You should spray the plant completely, including the stem and even the underside of the leaves.
If you have a serious infestation of bugs on your plant, you can fill a bucket full of soapy water, and then immerse the entire plant (including the pot) into the soapy water for a couple of seconds.
Repeat as needed.
