Sloppy Joe Pitas Freezer Recipe
Double or triple this recipe if you'd like, or freeze in smaller portions.

Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 small onion chopped
- 1 clove of garlic minced
- 2 tsp chili powder
- 2 tsp flour
- 1/2 tsp dried oregano
- 1/2 tsp cumin
- 1 small can tomato sauce
- cayenne pepper 1/4 tsp or to taste
- 1/2 beef broth
On serving day
- 6 pita shells on serving day
Instructions
- In large skillet, brown ground beef, ensuring you break up into small pieces as it browns, about 5 minutes or until no pink remains.
- Over medium heat, add onion, minced garlic, chili powder, oregano, flour, cumin and cayenne pepper. Cook for about five minutes or until onions are soft.
- Add beef broth and tomato sauce, stirring until slightly thickened. Cook for a further five minutes, stirring ocassionally. Allow to cool and divide into freezer containers.
On serving day
- Thaw in refrigerator then heat in microwave or saucepan until thoroughly heated. Serve in pita shells. Add cheese, tomatoes, etc if desired.
