Why you need to label everything in the freezer

One mistake that many new-to-freezer-cooking make is to not label every single dish and entree that goes into the freezer. Sure, you think you won't forget what that read looking dishes in the freezer, but trust me, you will.

The problem with freezing meals is that many of them start to look the same. Is that spaghetti sauce, chili, marinara sauce or some other unidentified meal? the last thing you want to do is defrost a spaghetti sauce with mushrooms when you meant to defrost the mushroom-free chili for your son's friend who happens to be allergic to mushrooms.

And as you began to expand your freezer cooking horizons and began to freeze desserts and side dishes, you can easily end up defrosting a dessert instead of a similarly-looking casserole.

You should make it a habit to always label any thing that you put in your freezer. that way it will be a routine and you will not have to worry about any potential mixups in the future because everything looks the same once it's frozen.
