Starting
your freezer cooking with favorite recipes
If you are considering
starting freezer cooking, one of the most common worries -
after having to do all that cooking at once, of course! -
is that the family will not like what you make. And if you've
already made multiples of it in the freezer, it can be hard
to see it go to waste if your family doesn't want it. So why
not start off your freezer cooking experience by using some
of your family's favorite recipes.
If you make a casserole
that your family loves, make a double recipe and freeze one.
The next time you want to make that dish, take the frozen
one out, defrost then reheat. Don't mention to your family
that was the second one you froze, see if they notice anything
odd or different about it, and then you can take that feedback
into account the next time you make it.
if your family
doesn't notice the difference, trying make it a practice to
cook doubles or triples of favorite meals, and freezing the
rest. Doing this is a great way to get your feet wet with
freezer cooking.
And as you get
more comfortable with doing this, then it is a good time to
tackle one of the 30 meals in one day cooking experiences,
or expanding your horizons with some of the recipes in the
popular freezer cookbooks.
