When you are making only a few dishes, it makes sense to quickly handwash items as you are going along cooking. But with freezer cooking, it can actually make sense to toss items in the dishwasher rather than taking the time to wash them, especially on what will already be a long day cooking a month’s worth of dishes at once!
Usually when freezer cooking, you will do prep work in the beginning, such as chopping, blending, and using the food processor and mixing sauces. Instead of letting cutting boards and utensils pile up in the sink, toss them in the dishwasher, then run the wash cycle. This will free up crucial space that dirty dishes take up, not to mention the time you’d take to wash them.
If you do your cooking in two days, these will all be clean for the following day… and you can do a second load later in the first day as well, to clean what was dirtied after the first cycle started.
