How to
label plastic containers for freezer cooking
Labelling plastic
containers that you have filled with all your great time-saving
meals is one of the most important
steps. You don't want to be faced with a freezer full
of meals that not only do you not know what is in the containers
but you don't knoiw if it has been in the freezer for two
months or two years.
But you need to
be able to label these containers with a label that won't
come off too easily when they are being moved around in the
freezer, but so they come off easily enough so they don't
gum up your dishwasher when you wash them to get ready for
the next meal.
There are a couple
ways you can label your plastic containers. The best is to
use tape and then write the information with a marker on the
tape. Painter's tape (usually green in color) is the best,
as it is a bit easier to remove than masking tape, but both
will work. Get them in a wide width, so you have plenty of
room to write the item, date and cooking instructions.
You should NOT
use dry erase pens to label your plastic containers. Once
you shuffle the containers a couple of times, the ink will
rub off when you touch them or when they rub against anything
else in the freezer.
