If you get red or green peppers on sale, you can actually freeze them so you can save them for later. Especially during these times when people are going to the grocery store less frequently, having a few peppers ready to go in the freezer makes a lot of sense.
To freeze your peppers, you want to first wash the peppers, slice them in half and then remove the seeds as well as the white membrane on the inside. Then you can choose to either slice them or you can freeze them in halves.
You want to then flash freeze them by placing them on a flat cookie sheet until they are frozen, and then you can transfer them into a plastic bag or a freezer container.
To thaw your peppers, you just need to either have them sit at room temperature for 1-2 hours until they are thawed, and then you can use them in a recipe or in salads or in a stir fry, or however you would like to use your peppers.
Peppers will keep for about a year in the freezer.
You can also freeze orange and yellow peppers, however, they won’t be as sweet as they are fresh. They will still add great flavor.
