Once you have checked your freezer seal to make sure it is working correctly, you will want to clean the seal to prevent problems down the line. Doing quick maintenance to the seal will ensure you do not need to replace your seal as often, if ever!
There are two cleaning solutions you can use to clean the seal. The first is a simple mixture of baking soda and warm water. This one can be used on seals that are fairly clean already. The second is a tougher cleaner, using water and bleach. Or you can use the tougher one first, then follow up later with the first one.
To clean the seal, use an old toothbrush to gently scrub. You don’t want to be too hard and break or damage the seal. Very gently pull the seal out so that you can clean the dirt and grime out of the seal’s folds. Wipe dry with a clean cloth.
