Using a freezer alarm to protect your freezer meals

It is everyone's worst nightmare... you have a full month's worth of freezer meals carefully labeled and frozen sitting in your freezer when the unthinkable happens... your fairly new freezer suddenly malfunctions and all the contents of your freezer spoil. So should you protect your investment with a freezer alarm?

Freezer alarms have come significantly down in price now where it is reasonable to use on in your household freezer. Most freezer alarms work in the same way... when temperature goes up and reaches 15°F (-9.4°C) an audible alarm will sound alerting you to the problem before spoiling occurs. This means if you take quick action, you can save the contents of your freezer.

This is especially handy for chest freezers, since people usually don't notice a problem until it is too late. There are many brands and styles of freezer alarms available, and can be ordered online or through your local appliance store.
