If you buy inexpensive jeans to save money, one of the unfortunate side effects is that they often feel quite stiff instead of the softer feel of more expensive jeans. And washing them with plenty of water and fabric softener not only wastes a huge amount of water but it also takes many, many washes to get them feeling any softer.
Here is a simple way you can soften your jeans. First, get them soaking wet, then roll them up. Place them in a plastic bag (so you don’t have your jeans dripping on everything else) and place them in the freezer. Allow them to freeze for about six hours, then remove from freezer, but DO NOT unroll them immediately. Let them defrost first (or you can seriously damage the denim), then wash as normal, and they should be much, much softer.
Too anxious to wait for them to defrost? Carefully put them in a sink without unrolling, and run warm water over the jeans until they are thawed.
