Are you a fan of dark colors and have a variety of black, dark grey, navy and dark brown in your closet? And have you ever grabbed a black shirt and navy pants and not realized it until you were out the door and in the brighter light? Probably! And if you are one of those people who find a pair of pants or shirt you love and then buy it in multiple colors, and can be even harder to tell if that shirt or pants is really black or navy. If you can’t afford brighter lighting in your closet or tend to be in a rush, here is a trick you can use to easily tell them apart!
First, go to your local craft store and buy some rolls of ribbon in black, light-medium grey, light-medium brown and bright blue, cutting the ribbon into 4″ or so lengths.. When you hang up something that is in one of those dark colors, simply tie a piece of ribbon to the neck of each hanger. As you use the system more, remember to hang up your clothes on the appropriately marked hanger.
Next time you go to get dressed, simply check the color of ribbon on the hanger so you can easily pick out items that work together and prevent you running out the door in mismatched black and navy ever again!
If you have multi-colored hangers, you can also use a similar method to differentiate the colors in your closet.
