When you have made a fabulous slow cooker meal with plenty of leftovers, it is tempting to go and pop it into the fridge then pop it back into the slow cooker for reheating, especially if you have stored the leftovers right in the slow cooker container.
Unfortunately, you cannot safely reheat your slow cooker meals back in the slow cooker. Because the temperature is slowly raised over a long period of time, it creates an unsafe food environment within the slow cooker and your leftovers, especially for meat-based dishes.
To reheat your slow cooker meals, simply reheat on the stove top or in the microwave and serve. Both these methods can safely reheat your meals again without worries of the food making you ill.
